The debate over the most talented darts player ever to play the sport took on new evidence on Saturday. Michael van Gerwen achieved one of the most remarkable feats in PDC history.

Van Gerwen tore through the UK Open Qualifying crowd, winning the first and second events in Wigan. His twin successes confirmed a unique milestone. The second event was the 100th PDC tournament Mighty Mike has won. He won his first event at the age of 19, and has now reached the century at the age of 28.
Among his heaving trophy cabinet are two world titles, two World Matchplay titles, four successive Masters wins and four Players Championship Finals trophies. As reported by top statistician Burton DeWitt, van Gerwen has won 40 floor titles in the last nine years. Only one player, fellow prolific record-breaker Phil Taylor, can come close to matching him. With 40 of his wins coming in the Pro Tour and 20 in the European Tour, a whopping 40 have been managed in TV events.
Though he has hinted at an early retirement, the man from Boxtel still has many years left in the game. With his darting dominance refusing to yield, only time will tell how many more titles he will add.
