Jermaine Wattimena disposed of
Fallon Sherrock in the first round of the World Darts Championship on Sunday night. 'The Machine Gun' lost the first set, but roared back to prevail 3-1.
''There was a lot of pressure. The match with the most pressure ever? No, not that. I played here against Luke Humphries, against Gary Anderson, against Joe Cullen,'' Wattimena responded afterwards to the AD.
The Dutchman noticed no difference in playing a match against a woman. ''I've played against ladies before, even when I was younger, but for me it's no different. Against Sherrock you just have to throw really well, because everyone knows how good she is. If she reaches her level. But where other years I was maybe too busy with other things, now I kept my focus.''
In the next, Wattimena takes on Martin Schindler. There are many German fans in the room, but that doesn't scare 'The Machine Gun'. ''One hundred 100 percent for Sherrock or 25 percent for Schindler, that's a difference. On the EuroTours in Germany I play against a German often enough, so I'm used to something."
