A glorious new Euro Tour record seemed in the making last weekend at the
European Darts Grand Prix. Sadly, the final session saw the tournament come up just short.
The record in question was most 100+ averages at a single
European Tour tournament. That stands at 24 100+ averages, according to statistics platform TheRedBit180. That record seemed to be under threat last weekend after no fewer than 12 100+ averages were thrown in the second round, bringing the total to 16 after two days of play.
In the third round on Sunday afternoon, four more 100+ averages were added to the total. With the quarterfinals, semifinals and finals still ahead, four 100+ averages had to be thrown to match the record. That had to be achievable, but remarkably, no more 100+ averages were thrown in the last seven matches of the tournament.
