Filipino dominance continues in new PDC Asian Tour season; Mikuru Suzuki stands out as shining light

The PDC Asian Tour has been increasingly dominated by darters from the Philippines in recent years, and at the start of the new season, this trend has not changed. The first two tournaments of the year were won by Filipino darters.
The best Asian darters are in Dubai this weekend for the first four tournaments of the season. The first two events took place on Saturday. Alexis Toylo showed the best in the opening tournament of the year.
Toylo, who won five tournaments last year, successively beat Daniel Langston (4-1), Juluis Nietes (4-0), Tomoya Tsumura (4-0), Paul Lim (4-1), Mikuru Suzuki (5-4) and Tomoya Goto (5-3). The win over Suzuki was in the semifinals, which is thus a fine result for the Japanese player. The two-time women's world champion defeated World Cup contender Ryusei Azemoto (4-3) and Yuta Hayashi (4-2), among others.
The second Asian Tour event turned out to be a triumph for Lourence Ilagan. 'The Gunner' actually did not run into any problems throughout the tournament. He dealt with Mark Gil Magsombol (4-0), Abdullah Eshaq (4-1), Daniel Langston (4-0), Yuta Hayashi (4-2), Jasper Alex Natividad (5-0) and Man Lok Leung (5-1).

- Likewise, I have always been a fan of Mervyn and with this worry on his mind, it explains why his form and ranking plummeted. It is really sad to hear this, often chatted to Mervyn and Tracey during the Lakeside days, both are lovely people. It does seem naive not acknowledging the fact it was earnings, surely there must be others in the same situation. - What’s with the dogs element to this story, trying to pull at the heart strings? Just goes to show that being a good dart player does not equate to being that bright. Seriously, ‘I thought you didn’t have to pay tax on winnings’ , your a pro dart player and its your line of work, your not playing the lottery or placing a bet. - The thing is... the folks who "humiliated" Taylor in the Seniors Events never really achieved anything in the important events - like Taylor did. Taylor had/has nothing to prove... and beating Taylor after he had retired is of zero value. Taylor in his prime would have made easy work of all of them. Cheers.MrYnyslas197107-03-2025
