Gurney discusses recent improvement after Evans win: "I've been getting in between my ears sorted"

Daryl Gurney is through to the third round of the 2021/22 PDC World Darts Championship after seeing off Ricky Evans 3-1.

Gurney and Evans played out a high quality clash with 'Superchin' continuing his brilliant form as of late to take out his stablemate.

"Ricky could have made it 2-2 there in sets and then fifth set you don't know where it's going to go but I threw away the first set and that 68 was horrific. I should of had a look what he was on and I thought just take it out. I missed it and then went one nil up and I just thought through that first set, I was the better player. I was always getting a chance before him," said Gurney post match.

What is different then for Gurney? He admits he's had to adapt his game to change with the standard.

"I've been practicing really hard, getting in between my ears sorted and it paid off at the end. I feel like this Daryl Gurney is better, I mean if you look back at the averages I haven't had as many 100+ averages now than when I was doing my best probably in 2017, 2018.

"So I feel like I'm playing better than I ever was but the problem is the standard in the PDC's went so much more. I've got to move with the times, got to improve."
