Twitter user @shellp84 asked PDC boss Hearn to clear up a rumour that Q-School attendees would not be guaranteed entry to UK Open qualifying. It had been stated by the PDPA that all Q-School entrants would be able to enter six UK Open qualifiers for free.
Hearn responded by saying "Limited to top 128 from Q-School so I believe. Too many logistical problems to cater for more."
The reply caused widespread surprise among darts players, fans, and even family. Jeanne van Peer, mother of Berry and Carlo - both of whom have entered European Q-School - replied by quoting the original PDPA claim. It is not the first Q-School announcement that has raised eyebrows. The decision to increase entry fees sparked a fierce debate on forums and social media. The announcement that only Q-School entrants could go on the Challenge Tour also caused some disdain.
There have not yet been any responses to Hearn's tweet by any player going to Q-School. But is is likely that there will be some displeased players, should the news be confirmed.
