Rampant Ricardo Pietreczko achieves darting destiny with German Darts Championship win

Ricardo Pietreczko has joined Max Hopp as the only German to win a European Tour title in the PDC achieving darting destiny in the final tournament before the European Championship, the German Darts Championship in Hildesheim.

Pietreczko just couldn't be denied as he saw off Peter Wright 8-4 in the final with 8/8 on the doubles. One of the most promising talents in years from Germany who came so close to reaching the World Grand Prix has joined the history books.

He got off to a dream start in the final going 2-0 and then 4-0 up with 4/4 on the doubles. Wright finally got off the mark but the German hit a 116 checkout to make it 5-1.

He continued to add leg after leg with a 74 checkout for a hold to continue his flawless display. Wright clinched leg nine only for the German to hit 108 to go one away.

Wright kept his hopes up on double 10, but the ton plus checkout machine was ready to take it to the bank as he hit a 104 checkout to seal the title.

After beating Michael van Gerwen and Stephen Bunting today alone with the latter being in superb form in particular, he backed that up with the ultimate final win.
