Humphries on battle with anxiety: "It's easy to mask how you're feeling. It makes you feel weak and vulnerable"

Luke Humphries has gone through a well documented battle with anxiety since one of his break through games against reigning World Champion, Rob Cross two years ago at the PDC World Darts Championship.

The PDPA are currently having a Mental Health & Wellbeing week with players telling their stories about battles with mental health and Humphries looked back with Chris Murphy about this topic.

"This is a big subject, it's been documented over the past 12-16 months for me. These are all struggles we have in daily life but it's been big for me," said Humphries to PDPA.

"Obviously it was two years ago with the Rob Cross game where the big trigger happened for me where I started to go on the decline with my mental health. There is sort of negative feelings and positive feelings about it, the negative being what I went through that game, the positive was how I battled through that game and ended up winning."

"I really didn't know what was wrong. It's easy to mask how you're feeling. We all put on a mask when we're struggling, it makes you feel weak and vulnerable. It was a time I'll probably never forget. I felt something really bad was going to happen, in my mind, I couldn't wait to be off the stage."
