Luke Humphries crowned himself world champion last Wednesday. In addition to darts, he is also a big football fan.
Humphries got that love of football from his father, more so his dad's name was inspired by his favourite football club Leeds United. After all, Luke stands for Leeds United Kings of Europe.
"I think everyone knows I was named after the club (Leeds United, ed.). That's no secret. I'm not from Leeds, but the club was really in me from birth," Humphries told Sportnieuws.nl.
Humphries therefore sympathizes immensely with his favourite club. "It was great in the early years of my life, then we had difficult times. But I really feel we're back on the rise as a club now, despite what happened last year." (Leeds dropped out of the Premier League)
'Cool Hand Luke' was even a guest at Leeds United recently, speaking with coach Daniel Farke. "We talked about darts and football. He (Farke, ed.) is one of the nicest people I have met. He asked for a picture because his son is a fan of darts and a fan of me. That was quite a surreal moment. He said if I needed anything from the club, they would take care of it."
