Luke Humphries will give the inaugural Ballon d'Art trophy to his girlfriend's father, who recently battled with prostate cancer and thankfully caught it in time. The world champion is also donating some of his £500,000 to Prostate Cancer UK. 👏
World Championship sponsor Paddy Power has transferred one million pounds to Prostate Cancer UK after the last edition of the World Darts Championship. Newly crowned champion Luke Humphries, however, also made a donation.
The 28-year-old Englishman earned £500,000 in prize money with his world title. A Sporting Life journalist writes that Humphries will donate part of that prize money to Prostate Cancer UK.
There is a special story behind this donation. His father-in-law struggled with prostate cancer himself, but thankfully managed to recover from it. Humphries also received the inaugural Ballon d'Art award after the final because he had thrown the most 180 scores at the World Darts Championship. Humphries decided to give this trophy to his father-in-law.
