Gerwyn Price on Saturday qualified for the quarterfinals of the
European Championship at the expense of
Nathan Aspinall. After ten legs the score was still in balance (5-5), but a late surge saw it finish 10-5 for the former world champion.
''Definitely happy with the way the match ended,'' Price spoke afterwards for Online Darts' camera. ''But in the middle and the start of the game I still think I played a bit better than Nathan, just let him off a bit and he was scraping a few legs. But you know, that's what Nathan does."

The Welshman played a lot better against Aspinall than he did in his first round against Keane Barry. Price noted that improvement himself. ''If every round gets better and better then the trophy will be coming home to Wales," he predicts.
Price said in his interview after his first round that he played with some reluctance at this European Darts Championship. After all, his daughter celebrated her birthday on Saturday, and because of his tournament participation, ''The Iceman'' could not be there. ''There was a flight at 7 so I wasn't sure what I was going to do," he laughs. "But they're out shopping and spending all the money so happy birthday to her."
