Danny Noppert has qualified for the quarter-finals of the
European Championship for the third consecutive year. 'The Freeze' was a 10-7 winner over Rob Cross in the second round.
Noppert, however, found himself trailing 7-5. "Both of us couldn't find the level we wanted in the beginning," Noppert said afterwords to Online Darts. "It was a rollercoaster but I'm really happy to win through in the end."
At the end, we saw Noppert exuberant at times anyway. "I'm not the really boring player that everyone thinks," he explains. "But sometimes I just need to keep calm. If I'm celebrating too hard, adrenaline goes too high and then sometimes I can struggle."
Noppert is in the quarterfinals of the European Championship for the third year in a row. "It's not been my most consistent year. I think last year was a bit better but my own belief is maybe higher. I always believe in myself and that's the most important thing."
The 33-year-old Dutchman will take on Gerwyn Price in the quarterfinals.
