On Friday 3 March, the UK Open kicks off in Minehead. Daniel Klose, who earned his Tour Card early this year, will make his major debut here.
Klose will start in the first round and will meet Jacques Labré. 'Dan The Man' has faced the Frenchman twice in the past and lost in both matches. "This is already a bit of a fear opponent, but let's see what comes out of it. I am positive that I can win and get into the second round," Klose said in a preview with dartn.de.
Klose has booked his stay in Minehead from Thursday to Saturday night. "Then I have a late flight home scheduled. That can be rebooked cheaply if I do go through." The German will not travel alone. "After Lukas Wenig was appointed as a replacement (for David Pallett), we chose to travel together. We don't live far apart."
Provided Klose wins his first match, Belgian Mario Vandenbogaerde will be waiting for him in the second round. "Also a good player. Hopefully I have a good form, then I can beat anyone.'' This match is then scheduled on the second stage, but that is no reason for Klose to have stage fright. ''I'm already looking forward to playing there. That would definitely be cool.''
