Rob Cross is into a third successive
World Series of Darts final. The former world champion will face off against
Luke Littler with the
Poland Darts Masters title on the line in a little while.
'Voltage' played a fine match with an average of 106.68 and a finishing percentage of 50 percent. Including an 11-darter and a 14-darter, Cross quickly gained a 4-0 lead.
Michael van Gerwen then came back to 4-2, but missed a chance to narrow the deficit further to 4-3. Via double 16, Cross made it 5-2, before the Englishman eventually prevailed 7-2.
Littler proved just too strong for
Michael Smith after an absolute spectacle. The match between the two Englishmen was only decided in favour of "The Nuke" after a decisive leg.
Early in the match, Smith gained a 4-1 lead with a 12-darter and a 13-darter, among others. With an 85 finish, 11-darter and a 114 checkout, Littler then came back to 4-4. Two more breaks followed, before Littler took the lead for the first time in the 11th leg of the match. Smith then threw out 116 to force a deciding leg, but the final leg then went to Littler with a 17-darter after Smith missed three match darts.
The World Series tournament in Poland is the fifth tournament of the season on the World Series circuit. In January, Luke Littler won the Bahrain Darts Masters, while Michael van Gerwen took the overall victory at the Dutch Darts Masters in Den Bosch.
Rob Cross captured the title in early June at the US Darts Masters in New York, and Gerwyn Price showed the best at the Nordic Darts Masters in Copenhagen. Later this year, World Series tournaments will also be played in Australia and New Zealand before the World Series Finals take place Sept. 13-15 in Amsterdam.
