Mark Webster honest on Premier League Darts Criteria: "Get in the top four and you're in, if you're not you can't winge"

Former professional darts player and current Sky Sports analyst and commentator has been speaking to 'Online Darts' about his thoughts on this years World Championships , his selection for the Premier League and most importantly his prediction for the tournament.

Webster explained how special the World Darts Championships are and why its amazing watching it at the Palace.

“I think the Worlds is the one, for the players I know what they’re going through but the nerves are a little bit different for me now its just nice to be involved an I know I’ll be there for the whole thing… I think it will be a great again, it’s a great line up- let’s get going!”

Webster said what many people will be thinking when it came to his predicted winner for the tournament.

“I don’t think any player can dispute that he’s the favourite, obviously Gerwyn Price is World No.1 he has a lot of pressure as he’s defending the prize money and not the title… Its all about Van Gerwen and if you don’t get rid of him early those formats gets really long and he’s the favourite for a reason, he’s the man to stop.”

“I think Michael Van Gerwen will win it, I can’t look beyond him.”

Another hot topic at the moment is the selection of players that will feature in the Premier League, Webster gave his opinion on who he feels should be selected.

“If I was picking it today I’d go the top four- Van Gerwen, Wright, Price and Smith. At the moment I’d leave Wade and Anderson out. Luke Humphries and Aspinall would definitely go in and If I was picking it now I’d go Cullen and Clayton too.”

However Webster didn't seem too sympathetic to those who may miss out due to not being in the top four.

“Get in the top four and you're in, if you're not you can't winge”
