Michael van Gerwen has comfortably eased into the last 8 at the Masters in Milton Keynes, sending home reigning champion,
Chris Dobey, 10-4 on Saturday night.
Dobey, who through no fault of his own has become one of the most talked about players in the darting world the last few hours, never really got going in this one. At the end of the first session van Gerwen, who was far from top gear himself had eased into a 4-1 lead.
With Dobey's average languishing in the 70s, the writing was on the wall relatively early about which way this tie was going to go. As the players headed off stage for the second interval, van Gerwen was just three legs from the next round, leading 7-3.
Despite Dobey getting his average up to 87 in the end, he couldn't produce a title-saving comeback and 'MVG' comfortably booked his place in the quarter-finals with a 10-4 victory.
