Dimitri van den Bergh has had a successful first month of the new PDC season. In his first five tournaments, The Dreammaker earned £15,000, plus he reached the last eight at a Euro Tour tournament for the first time.
"Look, I started my year with a place in the top ten of the floor tournament rankings. And I made a final, plus a quarter-final on the European Tour for the first time. So I have made some progress and I am definitely satisfied so far. Hopefully I can build on this'', Van den Bergh told Nieuwsblad.be.
At the International Darts Open in Riesa, the 27 year old Belgian lost in the last eight 6-4 to Jonny Clayton. In this match there were certainly chances to go further in this Euro Tour tournament.
"The 21 doubles I missed against Clayton? I was like: Well, how about now? In the previous matches I had always taken my chances and then this. But in the end only one of my four matches didn't work out, so I have to stay positive.''
What was Van den Bergh's best match in the month of February? "The one against Daryl Gurney in Wigan (during Players Championship 4). I won that one 6-5 with an average of 108 and a finish of 130 on the bullseye, while he was also on a finish."
