"People sometimes say he's arrogant, but when you talk to him 1-on-1 he's not too bad" - Van Veen on rival Littler

Gian van Veen had a great weekend. Not only did he win the Development Tour, he also qualified for the final of the PDC World Youth Championships.

Van Veen will play the final of the World Youth Championships on Nov. 26 against Luke Littler. "He was also my biggest competitor for the overall win on the Development Tour," Van Veen said in conversation with 433 darts. "People sometimes say he's arrogant, but when you talk to him 1-on-1 he's not too bad."

Behind Van Veen and Littler, another Dutchman finished in the top three of the Development Tour with Wessel Nijman. "He has come back tremendously strong after his suspension, it even seems like he never left. I expect him to provide fireworks on the Pro Tour next year as well."

Van Veen is studying aeronautical engineering. "I actually wanted to have graduated already, but my first thesis was not sufficient. The night of the World Youth Championships I resubmitted my modified thesis, hopefully it will succeed this time," the 21-year-old darter laughed.
