Gerwyn Price left the stage disillusioned, after losing in the quarter-finals of the PDC World Darts Championship against Michael Smith.
The Welshman, who threw a nine-darter earlier in the match and missed two match darts in the eighth set, lost 5-4 to his English opponent. During the match, Price also caused a remarkable moment by by ensuring that a visitor was sent out of Alexandra Palace.
Price had the crowd against him again. The fans were booing and whistling when The Iceman was throwing. ''Cheats'', the world number one wrote on Instagram to vent his frustrations.
Price later came up with a more detailed response. ''Absolutely gutted to go out in the last 8 of the World Championships. Having worked so hard in the last few months, so proud of myself for just being me and playing the best I can, even with all the hurdles in front of me. I will get stronger, I will come back better, I will practice harder, I will sacrifice more (and) I will succeed. I will do everything it takes to be the best. I will be back. Class is permanent'', he added.

I've seen the anti English taunts particularly in Scotland so let's not get in to English bias fans. In this case it's not nationalistic, darts fans love great players and Price is great player. His problem is he's so animated, so arrogant he has set himself up for the reaction he gets.

Could be the Covid travel limitations, which makes the crowd more local instead of international, but the English chants, booing non-english players on the World Championship is worse than ever and that is a shame. Normally, it was only that bad in Scotland and overseas!

Maybe go to Ireland. Hardly any Irish players worth chanting for.
