Raymond van Barneveld made a successful start to the sixth
Players Championship tournament of the season. The Dutchman, who won Players Championship 5 on Monday, managed to beat Ronny Huybrechts 6-1 in the first round, keeping up his hopes of making it back-to-back
Pro Tour triumphs.
James Wade and
Chris Dobey have also managed to qualify for the second round. Wade defeated Challenge Tour player, Reece Colley 6-4, while Dobey triumphed against Jurjen van der Velde (6-5).
Elsewhere, Martin Lukeman saw off Jules Van Dongen 6-3, Ritchie Edhouse impressed with a 104+ average in a first round win over Brendan Dolan and there were wins for the likes of Andrew Gilding, Ian White, Martin Schindler and Berry Van Peer among others.
Disappointment though for the likes of Kim Huybrechts, Gian Van Veen, Luke Woodhouse, Gabriel Clemens and Dimitri Van den Bergh in the early stages of Players Championship 6.
