The final day is set at the
International Darts Open in Riesa with the defending champion Gerwyn Price out at the first hurdle with a stunning display from
Ross Smith dumping the World Number Two out.
Smith produced a 112 average on Friday and while it wasn't those heights, he recovered from 4-0 to win through in a 6-5 in a similarly brilliant display.
In the end, it went all the way to a decider and when Price couldn't take out 112, Smith had got himself down to 28 and hit it second time around to complete victory. Statistics wise, he hit four 180's, a 96 average and 40% on the doubles.
While home hero
Max Hopp is through to the final day after a brilliant victory over last weekend's first time winner, Jose de Sousa. He hit five 180's and a 98.7 average en route to a 6-3 win. This included a brilliant 148 checkout as he punished only 3/10 on the doubles from De Sousa to win through.
The final player through also caused a shock with
Jesus Noguera's brilliant debut run continuing at the hands of Ian White. It was a 6-3 win against the third seed with a 93 average, three 180's and 46% on the doubles.
It is a run which sees him into 47th in the race to the European Championship with an early win on Sunday putting him into qualification. The same can be said for Franz Roetzsch, Scott Baker and the aforementioned Ross Smith.
