Standings after first week of play in 2022 Premier League Darts

Peter Wright, after his weekly title in Cardiff, is of course also the leader in the standings after the first week of play in the Premier League Darts.

Wright was supreme in the final over Jonny Clayton, who played in front of his own crowd. The final was won 6-1 by Snakebite, who posted an average of 113. With this win Wright earned his first five points in the rankings. Earlier the Scot had already taken wins against Michael Smith (6-3) and Gary Anderson (6-5). Losing finalist Clayton had beaten Joe Cullen (6-2) and James Wade (6-4).

Clayton had three points from the start of the season. Anderson and Wade received two points for reaching the semi-finals. They defeated Michael van Gerwen and Gerwyn Price respectively. Like Cullen and Smith, they are on zero points.

New format

The eight participants play sixteen times a tournament. The format is such that a player meets the other participants twice in a quarterfinal. During two weeks of play, in the eighth and sixteenth week, the draw is made on the basis of the points position.

Points can be scored with results in the sixteen tournaments. A semi-final earns two points, a second place three points and a tournament win five points and a £10,000 bonus.

Based on these points the new Premier League Darts ranking is formed. The four best players advance to the Premier League Darts play-offs.
