Last week the
World Matchplay was held in Blackpool. Luke Humphries prevailed there by beating Michael van Gerwen 18-15 in the final. Co Stompé was on
Viaplay to analyze the tournament and came up with a remarkable story.
Stompé himself attended the World Matchplay twice, more specifically in 2009 and 2010. In 2009 he went down immediately in the first round, but a year later he reached the quarter-finals, in which he eventually lost 16-12 to Raymond van Barneveld.

Costs
That earned him prize money, although he still ran into unexpected expenses. "I had my son with me in 2010 and we decided to put the car in a parking garage. I had forgotten to indicate that we would be there for seven days, otherwise I would have gotten a discount. But now I suddenly had to pay 360 euros, all in coins," Stompé laughed.
"It was still quite a chore to get that many tokens. Not very convenient so my plan was to reserve a parking space in advance the following year. Unfortunately, it didn't come to pass because I didn't manage to qualify."
