Michael van Gerwen left James Wade in the dust in Leeds breezing past 'The Machine' 6-1 to seal the latest week of action at the 2022 Premier League Darts.
Van Gerwen believes though he is capable of more and wants to show that later on in the tournament but is pleased to continue his winning feeling.
"I think the final was ok. The 68 I think was really important to get myself going and that gives you a little bit of confidence. Overall I think I can't really complain," said Van Gerwen post match.
"You only need to look to the end goal and that's win the night and win your games. That's the only thing you can do."
"They know I'm capable of this and they know I'm capable of even more but that's for later on in the tournament, I feel good and I feel comfortable and you want to do better for yourself and for everyone. I think the crowd was amazing, I think thumbs up for them but overall it was a good night."
He also shunned the notion of him 'being back' and said that as long as he has the winning feeling, it is all that matters no matter how he plays.
"Do you have to be at your brilliant best to win things? No. Did I do it before all the time? No but occasionally when you have to play your A game but most importantly you know how to win again."
Also he was quizzed on Gerwyn Price asking fans if he should take a break and he said it's a difficult situation.
"He's not playing his absolute best anymore and he's battling against that as well and that makes it difficult for him but I think you need to look towards Adrian Lewis, he used to have it as well years ago and he battled over it. I hope he's going to do it as well because I think Gerwyn is a phenomenal player and a credit to the sport of darts."
"I don't know if he needs a break, let him stay home for the rest of the year, I don't care. But I totally understand it, people probably at home don't understand what it means to be at the top of your game, the pressure is on you. You don't want to put yourself through a tough period but everyone needs to decide that for himself."
