Van Gerwen needs one more PDC title for special achievement

Only three players have managed to win PDC titles in 10 consecutive seasons and Michael Van Gerwen could join this illustrious group this year.

It is no surprise that Phil Taylor is one of the players to pull off his feat. The 16-time world champion won at least one PDC title every year from 1994 to 2017, a streak of 24 years.

The second player is Ronnie Baxter, who managed to win at least one title annually on the PDC circuit from 2003 to 2012. In his case, these were only Pro Tour titles, of which Baxter claimed a total of fourteen to his name.

Peter Wright joined the list this year. ‘Snakebite’ has won at least one PDC tournament every year since 2012. Wright captured his first title of the season at this month's PDC Super Series.

Van Gerwen also started his series in 2012, but still has to wait for his first title in 2021. If this succeeds, he will be the fourth player to win at least one PDC title per year ten years in a row.

Gary Anderson still has to work more to join this select club. The Flying Scotsman won a title every year from 2014 to 2020 and can therefore extend his streak to eight this year.
