Last weekend the final tournaments of the PDC Development Tour 2023 were completed. Gian van Veen crowned himself the overall winner.
Matthew Edgar on his youtube channel 'Edgar TV' discusses the five things to remember from this edition of the Development Tour. For example, Edgar points out that there is good money to be made for the young players. "If you look at the final standings you see that Gian van Veen earned £20,950 on the Development Tour alone this year, not bad for a 21-year-old," says Edgar.
Edgar also applauds the increasing number of players from different countries doing well on the Development Tour. "In the top ten averages, seven different nations represented and only one of them being from England. Go back five years maybe less and that would be nearly all English."
The high level had also caught Edgar's eye. "If you want to be competitive, competing for a PDC Tour Card and Alexandra Palace spot, you need to be looking at 18 darts. You need to be going out in six visits to the board."
