Peter Wright and
James Wade have joined Gerwyn Price and Michael van Gerwen into the semi-finals during the third week of the
Premier League Darts in Belfast.
Wright triumphed 6-4 against his compatriot Gary Anderson. The latter led 3-2, but was broken in the seventh leg by Wright. Snakebite then threw in a 120 finish for 5-3, before deciding the match in the tenth leg with a 12-darter.
Wade reached the last four for a second time with a 6-3 win against Jonny Clayton. The Machine broke the Welshman in the eighth leg with a 13-darter and then took the win on double 10.
New format
The eight participants play sixteen times a tournament. The format is such that a player meets the other participants twice in a quarterfinal. During two weeks of play, in the eighth and sixteenth week, the draw is made on the basis of the points.
Points can be scored with results in the sixteen tournaments. A semi-final earns two points, a second place three points and a tournament win five points and a £10,000 bonus.
Based on these points the new Premier League Darts ranking is formed. The four best players advance to the Premier League Darts play-offs.
