The sports of football and darts are inseparable. At the big darts tournaments, you often hear chants that you regularly hear in the soccer stadiums as well, or at least the melody of them.
Most darters make no secret - via social media, for example - of which soccer club they support. In this article you will find the favorite soccer clubs of some of the best darters in the world.
Luke Humphries - Leeds United
Thanks to his father's roots, Luke Humphries is a huge Leeds United fan. His parents even named him after the club, as the letters in his first name stand for the words Leeds United, Kings (of) Europe. He has made several visits to the club and even got to take a lap of honor on Elland Road with the Sid Waddell Trophy after Humphries won the World Darts Championship.
Michael van Gerwen - PSV Eindhoven
Since childhood, Michael van Gerwen has been a huge supporter of PSV Eindhoven. He has been a VIP guest at the Philips Stadium several times and was also once invited by PSV to show his World Championship to the PSV fans.
Michael Smith - Manchester United
The darter from St Helens is an avid fan of his local rugby team, but is also a soccer fan. Although Liverpool and Everton are closer to his home, Smith is a loyal fan of Manchester United.
Gerwyn Price - no club preference
It is not known which soccer club Gerwyn Price supports. 'The Iceman' is primarily a rugby fan and Price is believed to have very little interest in soccer.
Nathan Aspinall - Manchester United
The reigning World Matchplay champion wanted to be a soccer player in his youth. Aspinall used to be a talented goalkeeper and was allowed to prove himself at Manchester United's goalkeeping academy. 'The Asp' was offered a contract at Glasgow Rangers when he was nine, while he also played a few trial matches for Stockport County. However, Aspinall has always remained loyal to his old club Manchester United and is still a huge fan of this club.
Rob Cross - Chelsea
The former world champion is a Chelsea supporter but also has a soft spot for Rangers. Prior to Premier League night in Glasgow, he was given a tour of Ibrox, which naturally earned him boos from the Celtic fans as he took the stage.
Dave Chisnall - Liverpool
Another player from darts mecca St Helens, but this one is a Liverpool supporter. Chizzy is often seen wearing a shirt of 'The Reds' and has been featured on club channel LFC TV.
Jonny Clayton - Liverpool
Jonny Clayton also has a fondness for Liverpool. He regularly posts photos on social media with his family during matches of "The Reds. Clayton's darts shirt also features the number 97, in tribute to the victims of the 1989 Hillsborough tragedy.
Dimitri van den Bergh - Royal Antwerp
The top Belgian player is a supporter of one of Belgium's top clubs, Royal Antwerp. Last year Antwerp won the national championship for the first time in 66 years, much to the delight of Dimitri van den Bergh.
Peter Wright - Norwich City
Scottish-born Peter Wright has lived in Mendham, England, for many years. That is near the Norwich City soccer club. Although "Snakebite" has never really spoken out about soccer, it is believed that Wright is a fan of Norwich City.
Damon Heta - Nottingham Forest
Despite living in Leicester, Damon Heta has recently made Nottingham Forest his favorite English club and has even attended a few games.
Chris Dobey - Newcastle United
"Support your Hometown Club" they often say in England and that is exactly what Chris Dobey is doing. Dobey is an avid Newcastle fan and attends matches whenever his darts schedule permits. The colors of the 'Hollywood' darts shirt are also aligned with Newcastle United's black and white club colors.
Joe Cullen - Manchester United
Like some of his fellow darters, Joe Cullen is a fan of Manchester United. However, "The Rockstar" does use a turnout song by Oasis, who are known to be fans of arch-rival Manchester City.
Stephen Bunting - Liverpool
'The Bullet' hails from a Liverpool suburb and is a fan of 'The Reds' at heart. Stephen Bunting even has a season ticket with Liverpool and tries to attend games regularly.
Dirk van Duijvenbode - Ajax
