Peter Wright will take on Gerwyn Price in the second round at the
European Championship after seeing off Gabriel Clemens in a superb display.
Wright who bowed out of the last two European Tour events due to travel restrictions was due to drive to Oberhausen this weekend to play in the season ending tournament and if so, the drive was seemingly worth it.
He won through 6-3 in a high quality tie which saw Wright averaged 104.7 and Clemens 100.36 in the end.
'Snakebite' had his scoring power as the difference as he hit 19 scores of 100+ compared to 8 from Clemens and four 180's alongside two ton plus checkouts with a high of 116 as he set up the tie of the day tomorrow with 'The Iceman'.
Also through is
Mensur Suljovic who rounded off the opening day of action and a marathon session with a 6-2 victory over Daryl Gurney to continue his good form as of late.
Suljovic was exceptional on his doubles with 40% hit and a high checkout of 120 despite only a 90 average but Gurney only hit 2/12 (16%) in heading out in Oberhausen.
