Paul Hogan crowned himself the winner of the weekly title at the MODUS Super Series on Saturday night. The 61-year-old Englishman proved too strong for Devon Petersen in the final of the fifth week of play.
A new competition is played each week on the MODUS Super Series. The best six players from the first five days of play met Saturday divided into two groups during the final day of the eighth week of play. In the thirteenth week of play, the 12 weekly winners will take on each other.
The six best players from Monday through Friday's group matches were allowed to compete on Saturday in the final day, which consisted of two groups. In Group A, Noa-Lynn van Leuven managed to win her best games by defeating Ricky King (4-2) and Stowe Buntz (4-0). Buntz was allowed to advance to the semifinals after a 4-3 win over King.
In Group B, all players managed to win once. Hogan and Petersen had the best leg balance and completed the lineup for the semifinals. In the first semifinal, Petersen triumphed 4-3 against Van Leuven, after which Hogan handled Buntz (4-3). The final was then a 4-2 triumph for Hogan, who thus claimed the top prize of 5,000 pounds.
