Websters set for nine-dart shootout

Mark Webster and Darren Webster face a nine-dart shootout to determine which of the two qualifies from Group D at the Grand Slam of Darts.
Danny Noppert opened the night with a 5-2 win against Mark Webster, before Daryl Gurney thrashed a wasteful Darren Webster 5-1 to set up the unlikely showdown.
Noppert needed a 5-1 or 5-0 victory to have any chance of going through, but his hopes were dashed as the first four legs went with throw.
Once eliminated, the Dutchman went up a gear. A 72 checkout to build on an earlier 83 gave him the break, and a 74 finish meant Webster was up against it as he trailed 4-2.
'Noppie', ruthless on tops, found the red bit once again to seal the match.
The formula was simple. Gurney needed three legs to confirm qualification in first place, and Webster needed two to go through.
An early 70 checkout from the Northern Irishman after Webster opened with six perfect darts made it 2-0.
Webster struck back, but was unable to land another blow.
Gurney, ruthless on his doubles, won the next three legs to confirm a 5-1 win.
With two points and a -3 leg difference each, the two Websters will take to the Wolves Civic stage again later.
