Stephen Bunting continued his return to form by defeating Joe Cullen in Hasselt but it wasn't all plain sailing for 'The Bullet' who survived four match darts and Cullen going 5-3 up to reach the second round in the European Championship in a deciding leg.
He will be joined there by the final man through, one of the favourites for the title, 'Snakebite' Peter Wright who brushed aside a potentially tricky opponent in Krzysztof Ratajski, the reigning Winmau World Master who will play the Worlds at the end of the year for the first time and will be switching over full time to the PDC next year after some good form on the European Tour making 11/12 events.
Wright proved too strong though winning 6-3 and his doubles prowess came into affect again with Ratajski wiring a lot of big finishes and Wright being there to mop it up.
