Van Gerwen on chances of breaking tournament wins record: ‘I am positive and therefore I say it is possible’

In 2016, Michael van Gerwen won almost every tournament he participated in and put the counter up to 25 titles. According to many, this was an achievement that is practically unfeasible for repetition, but Van Gerwen seems to have put his sentences back in 2018 because the counter is already at 10.
After the European Darts Grand Prix it was asked why Van Gerwen continues to play these tournaments because this is not necessary for the rankings. The answer from the Dutchman was as follows:
"I do not have to play everything, but I've become so good by playing this kind of tournaments. I will continue to do this and you will see me back here next year. "
When asked if he could break the record of 25 titles in one year, he answers: "It is very difficult but I am positive and therefore I say it is possible

I know a lot of darts fans who cannot stand Arsepinall, oddly I know people who don't like darts but frequently attend events for the atmosphere and have no idea who was playing. - Is this the start of an attempt to say that he (Littler) is the best ever as he has won most money. Perhaps adjust all prize money earned by allowing for inflation. If Littler gets close too (does not even have to overtake) both MVG’s and Taylor’s Major titles total then he is in the conversation. - It is shocking and unbelievable that 2 Hotty who was always such a decent player, 2 time World Champion and won the Grand Slam when it meant something. He really should have joined the PDC earlier. He has just disappeared off the radar. Such a shame when one of your favourite players just dissappears. I guess he is concentrating on the carpentry. I made a sign at Lakeside which must have been the biggest ever. It said we're potty for 2 Hotty, each word was on its own flip chart sheet of paper and gaffer taped together.
