Anderson has spoke of the idea of retirement for a while and said after defeating James Wade in the second round of the World Matchplay that while he thinks a few years remain in his illustrious career going down the Phil Taylor or Raymond van Barneveld route of one final year won't be on his radar.

"We've got a few years left touch wood. I'll just stop playing that's it, if you're retired, you're retired. If you stop playing, you stop playing for a while. If I mention the word 'retiring' that's it - I'll not be back, I'll just stop," said Anderson to Sun Sport during his post match press conference.

"Barney's retired, Phil (Taylor)'s retired. To me you're retired, you're stopped. If you come back, you're not retired, you never have been."
