Aspinall full of disbelief after losing final against 'phenomenal' Van Gerwen: ''He's f*cking unreal"

According to Nathan Aspinall, it became clear once again Sunday night that Michael van Gerwen is the best dart player in the world. Van Gerwen beat 'The Asp' 11-4 in the final of the World Series of Darts Finals.

Shortly after the awards ceremony, Aspinall walked into the press room in disbelief. ''He's f*cking unreal, he's a f*cking weirdo, isn't it?'' the Englishman stammered to the Dutch journalists present.

In particular, Van Gerwen played an impressive game against Luke Humphries. Among other things, 'Mighty Mike' notched a nine darter and beat Humphries 11-10 after a thriller.

''Pfff, he is quite a player,'' Aspinall continued his story to De Telegraaf and others. ''The nerves of steel he has are phenomenal. I don't know how he does this and where he gets the energy.''

The reigning World Matchplay champion then had more praise in store for Van Gerwen. ''I am a fighter, I never give up, but for me he is absolutely the best. A world champion. He can play so three or four matches in a day at such a high level. He didn't even play at his best against me, but he didn't need to."
