There seems to be something in the water at the
Grand Slam of Darts with
Connor Scutt bringing his Challenge Tour exploits onto the main tour and onto TV.
He thrashed Dave Chisnall 5-0 who seems to have an issue bringing that floor game to the stage as Scutt ran riot in a success featuring a near 105 average.
Scutt was averaging 123 hitting a 13-darter to open up and broke throw with a 96 checkout for an 11-darter. Scutt’s dart drifted on the 72 and Chisnall got given a chance to break back but he didn’t take it.
Scutt returned for double 16 for 3-0. A 45 checkout saw Scutt continue his tear as he surged into a 4-0 lead. He hit an epic 120 checkout to sweep aside Chisnall and claim the win 5-0.
While
Danny Noppert won 5-2 in a scoreline that didn't tell the full story as he was given a tough test by
Beau Greaves who missed multiple chances to gain a real foothold in the contest.
'The Freeze' escaped though and gains the early impetus in their group albeit Greaves will look to build from a good albeit not spectacular start.
Noppert hit a 96 checkout with Greaves waiting on 70 to break. But she was broken next time out by Noppert who hit double 10 to make it 2-0.
Greaves left 121 and was on a finish when Noppert wasn’t on his throw next time around. But he left himself placed with a 131 to leave 32 so Greaves needed to take out the 121. But she didn’t and ‘The Freeze’ returned for 3-0.
Greaves missed 110 for 3-1 albeit Noppert had a bounce out on 99 and Greaves sealed a leg back. She made it interesting at 3-2 and pushed Noppert all the way but he got away with it sealing the win 5-2.
