Greaves, Jansen and Rupprecht decline invite for PDC World Youth Championship

On Wednesday, the PDC announced the invitations to the PDC Youth World Championship and it became clear which youth players qualified through the international qualifiers. The wildcards were for the 11 players up to age 24 who hold a PDC Tour Card.

These names include defending champion Josh Rock, Gian van Veen, Owen Roelofs and Jurjen van der Velde. Danny Jansen and Pascal Rupprecht were also eligible for an automatic spot at the PDC World Youth Championship, but the PDC reports that the Dutchman and German will not take advantage of this invitation.

It is not known why Rupprecht is not competing in the junior world championship. Jansen's reason is a little easier to understand. 'The Mullet' became a father for the first time last week and it is plausible that Jansen would rather stay with his girlfriend and newborn son.

Beau Greaves also could have been in action at the Youth World Championships. But just like last year, she turned down this invitation. The PDC also invited the two highest-ranked players up to age 24 on the PDC Women's Series Order of Merit. Those were Greaves and Aoife McCormack. Katie Sheldon will now take Greaves' spot. The 19-year-old Englishwoman prefers to play the WDF Swedish Open in Malmo.
