Humphries produces brilliant display to defeat Petersen, Cullen also through with Hunt win

The action continues on the opening day at the Players Championship Finals as it comes towards its conclusion with Luke Humphries and Joe Cullen both through to the Last 32.

Humphries produced an exceptional display to see off Devon Petersen 6-3. He averaged 99.6 with 50% on the doubles and defied a 101 average from 'The African Warrior' in the process to reach Round Two.

While Cullen saw off Adam Hunt with a good performance averaging 95.5 with a high checkout of 130 to see off 'The Hunter' 6-3.

On Stage Two, 'The German Giant' Gabriel Clemens defeated Martijn Kleermaker in a classy tie on paper before play today. He edged out the Dutchman in a battle of the nicknamed Giants 6-5 with a 97.4 average, three 180's and 55% on the doubles.

While Ian White saw off Scottish youngster William Borland in a 6-3 victory with a potential shock on paper averted for 'Diamond'.
