Luke Littler took the biggest win of his youn career at the Premier League Darts a week and a half ago, avenging his World Darts Championship final defeat by winning over Luke Humphries 11-7 in the final. But it's not just darts that interests The Nuke.
Littler was in New York last weekend for participation in the US Darts Masters. Prior to that tournament, he received a video message from famous American wrestler Cody Rhodes. The 17-year-old English darter is a lover of combat sports; for example, in addition to wrestling, he enjoys watching Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) and in particular the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC).
A recent guest on the MMA Hour, Littler was asked by host Ariel Helwani who his favourite fighter was. "Connor McGregor," Littler answers, surprising the host with his knowledge of the UFC and McGregor's upcoming return to the octagon against Michael Chandler. The 17-year-old is yet to go a view a fight in person however. "But I'm going to Manchester in July to watch Tom Aspinall," he insists.
Despite the fact the UFC is coming to Manchester, the action will be on US time, taking place in the early hours of the morning in the UK, so Littler will face a late night in order to watch the action. "Paddy the baddy Pimblett is fighting too," Littler adds, continuing to wow Helwani with his knowledge. "But yeah, I do like Tom Aspinall. I'll be able to stay up with a couple of Red Bulls."
Littler also has time to do something other than play darts next weekend. After all, the reigning Premier League champion will not be in action at the upcoming Nordic Darts Masters, as the World Series of Darts continues with another tournament taking place next weekend in Denmark. At the US Darts Masters by the way, it was a semi-final exit for Littler.
