Koert Westerman has no intention of ever interviewing
Jeffrey de Zwaan again. Due to an incident after a match at the Dutch Darts Masters 2022 at the Ziggo Dome, 'The Black Cobra' has fallen out with the current darts presenter at
Viaplay, who did the honours as interviewer at the time.
De Zwaan lost to James Wade (6-2) in the first round at that tournament. After that match, he had to appear in front of Viaplay's camera for an interview about the match he played.
But that did not go without a fight, Westerman recalled in conversation with 433darts. ''He had lost then, walked right past me and said something very ugly about Viaplay. Then I thought; but then I don't have to interview you any more either, but never again. Then I don't have to.''
Cameraman Paul Oberink then tried to glue the situation together. ''Who wanted to start making things up a bit between us,'' Westerman continued. ''I wasn't waiting for that anymore because you say something like that to me once and then I never have to again. Anyway, Jeffrey came back anyway. Well I asked one question and that was it. Actually, I should have said: 'I don't need to interview you again so just go away', but I didn't know what Viaplay would possibly think of that. Because then you could also accuse me of work refusal.''
Westerman doesn't need the Dutch dart player as a table guest in the TV studio either. ''Not if I'm sitting there, because then I'll call in sick. It's not about someone being grumpy with me in his bad mood. But I can't even repeat what he said. I am a father of three and you only do that once,'' Westerman said.
