Martin Schindler qualified for the last sixteen at the
Baltic Sea Darts Open in Kiel on Saturday evening by dealing with his compatriot Lukas Wenig (6-4) in the second round.
After this match, a lot of pressure fell off Schindler. "We have now started the new year. This is now the first event of the European Tour and I know that Lukas is a very dangerous opponent," Schindler stated in the interview afterwards.
Four Players Championship tournaments have been played so far, which, apart from a final spot for Clemens, have not gone particularly well for the German players. From that, Schindler draws his motivation to shine on the PDC European Tour in order to maintain his high position on the Pro Tour rankings. "On the Pro Tour in England, things didn't go so well for the Germans so far and I wanted to do better now.
Support from German fans
Schindler also enjoyed the passionate support of the German public. "The European Tour is fantastic. To play in front of the German fans, I don't think there is anything better. I think it's brilliant and I'm happy to be part of it. Every year I love it."
