Gerwyn Price is through his opener at the 2022
UK Open after seeing off Krzysztof Ratajski in a clinical victory for 'The Iceman' on the Main Stage.
Price safely progressed 10-5 and averaged 98.3 as well as five 180's, a highest checkout of 150 and 45.5% on the doubles en route to seeing off 'The Polish Eagle'.
As he aims to add the UK Open for the first time as well as keep hold of his World Number One ranking which is under threat again this weekend.
It was the scoring power that edged it for Price with Ratajski hitting 5/8 on his doubles but not getting a single 180 and averaging only 91 in defeat.
While
Dimitri van den Bergh and defending champion,
James Wade were also victors on Stage Two.
Van den Bergh thrashed Daryl Gurney 10-2 with a dominant win with a 104 average and five 180's to boot as he took down 'Superchin' in a game many would have expected to be closer given their respective form as of late.
While Wade kicked off his defence with a 10-6 success over Steve Lennon continuing his brilliant form as of late just at the right time.
It was a hard fought win but a high quality one as Wade hit a 104 average compared to 105.5 from his opponent in moving through.
