The English federation has announced which four men and women will represent their nation at the
WDF World Cup. The event will take place from 26 to 30 September in the Danish city of Esbjerg.
Only darters that are currently participating in the county system throughout the UK are eligible for selection for the English team.
The men's team consists of
James Hurrell,
Scott Mitchell, Jamie Atkins and Reece Colley. These four were also recently part of the England squad at the Six Nations Cup, losing to the Netherlands in the semi-final match.
At the Six Nations Cup event, the women's tournament was won by the English team consisting of
Beau Greaves,
Deta Hedman and
Lorraine Winstanley. They are also among the English selection for the WDF World Cup. The fourth person in the team is Claire Brookin.
Well-known players like Fallon Sherrock and Lisa Ashton are missing from the England squad. Ashton does not play 'county', and is therefore not eligible to play. The reason why Sherrock has not been included in the England team is not known.
Teams from dozens of different countries participate in the WDF World Cup. Although players with a PDC Tour Card are excluded from participating. During the event, the men's and women's teams play a singles, pair and team event respectively.
