John Henderson makes winning return to UK Open, Haupai Puha dumps out Jelle Klaasen as 17-year-old Jenson Walker makes his mark

The first round is complete in the usual frenetic atmosphere that is the UK Open. Known as the FA Cup of Darts, it sees the tournament played until the end of the third round which is when the big boys come in this evening.

But for some well known names, it is early triumphs as John Henderson fresh off winning the World Seniors Championship was back in the atmosphere that he has made no bones that he wants to return to. He saw off Kevin Burness 6-4 in a popular win.

Elsewhere, Danny Lauby and Geert Nentjes were victors on Stage Two after Ron Meulenkamp and Thibault Tricole had opened up with wins themselves. With Main Stage starting late, both first round games are done but starting later with Haupai Puha edging past Jelle Klaasen.

Sebastian Bialecki won't go any further with Coventry based 17-year-old Jenson Walker aiming to make a similar mark to how Luke Littler did last year in a 6-4 win in an early upset. Other winners include Leonard Gates, Owen Bates as well as Joe Croft who interestingly is the grandson of the former BDO chairman Olly Croft. So a bit of darting heritage among the Riley's Qualifiers. He faces James Hurrell next.
