Peter Wright stunned by Mickey Mansell, Schindler and Clemens also advance at European Darts Grand Prix

Peter Wright has failed to reach the second round at the European Darts Grand Prix. The former World Champion was stunned by Mickey Mansell in the opening round on Friday night.
Wright went down 5-6 against Mansell, continuing Snakbites poor showing on the EuropeanTour this season. Elsewhere, Gabriel Clemens won the German clash against Rene Eidams easily 6-1.
Martin Schindler, who surprisingly won the International Darts Open last week, was truly unleashed. Schindler recorded an average of 108.82 per turn. He eventually managed to win 6-2 over Gian Van Veen, who even incidentally produced 100.29 average.
I'll tell you something,I've played and watched darts for decades. There'll never be another bristow,lowe,or Taylor as it's all on a plate for them. It's all social media. I do feel bad for Peter Wright,as he's playing crap,but it's all tournament after tournament. Ritchie Burnett,get your leg swing out sorted,and you could be up there again boy! Keep off the pot noodles!!!
How on earth was Wright stunned ? You could pluck a fan from the crowd to play Wright nowadays and Wright would still lose. He is plummeting like the unfortunate Glen Durrant.

- I agree. There needs to be a points system and preferably just a rolling one year. World Championship should earn the most points though it can be argued that the current qualification system does see a fair few players qualify from regional country qualifiers who would struggle to hold down a place on the Pro Tour. If prize money won is going to remain as the determining factor for ranking then the World Championship should just consist of the 128 Tour Card Holders. Another option would be to take the World Championship out of the rankings and have it as the stand alone pinnacle that you qualify for by winning certain tournaments or your ranking position, sort of like a GSOD+.Mysstree05-04-2025
