William O'Connor is through to the Third Round at the 2021/22 PDC
World Darts Championship after easing past Glen Durrant at the Alexandra Palace.
O'Connor spoke afterwards and admitted preparing for a tie where the opponent hasn't been playing at his best is difficult.
"It was really hard to prepare for it but it was even harder to play it to be honest. I kind of knew what to expect but you really can't prepare for it can you," said O'Connor post match.
"I thought Glen threw pretty well in the first set. It wasn't his very best but I thought he threw pretty good. I thought he threw very solid darts. The 140's and 180's deserted him a bit. I'm just happy to get over the line."
But for O'Connor, he is expecting more when he returns after Christmas to face Michael Smith.
"Numbers are liars, my practice didn't go particularly well. Maybe that's because I was playing Glen and I didn't know what to expect. I do expect myself to play really well in the next game, I've got no choice but to play well."
