The day after Michael Smith's world title, the Professional Darts Corporation (PDC) celebrated another milestone.
January 4 marked the 30th anniversary of sixteen players officially parting ways with the British Darts Organization (BDO) and forming their own union. This union was then named the World Darts Council (WDC) but is known today as the PDC.
The list of sixteen darters includes such names as John Lowe, Eric Bristow, Phil Taylor, Keith Deller, Bob Anderson, Dennis Priestley and Rod Harrington.
And of those 16 players how many (who are still alive) are PDC shareholders? No doubt the PDC made the professional game what it is today but am i the only one who can now see parallels between Ollie Crofts dictatorial ways and the Hearns very similar approach? Darts needs to guarantee Tour Card holders a minimum income and also allocate more money further down otherwise its just going too be the same as footballs Premier League where the largest percentage of money goes to the smallest percentage of participants.
