The PDC recently announced the darts calendar for 2024. One of the most notable things was the fact that the Players Championship tournaments in 2024 will only take place on weekdays.
This can become a problem for players who normally still work during the week. This is not directly the case for Kim Huybrechts, but his wife currently runs a darts store in Belgium. It is possible that the new scheduling of the Players Championship tournaments does affect the store's opening hours.
"On a sporting level, I'm not going to notice a difference right away," Huybrechts told Nieuwsblad.be. "But it will get used again for me and my family. We have the store of course and it is currently closed on weekends. How we are going to solve that, I will first have to discuss with the big boss here (his wife Dana, ed.)."
Huybrechts shows some understanding for the PDC's decision. "I understand it somewhere," says the 37-year-old Belgian. "They will want to fill the weekends with other tournaments, or exhibitions. The PDC assumes that everyone is a full-time professional darts player, but of course that's not the case. So it will require some adjustments for me as well. Fortunately it's more of a family inconvenience here, for someone like my brother (Ronny Huybrechts, ed.) it's much worse."
